Debbie Hodges sent over this information about the status and contact information of Art Grebe.
"As many of you know Art has had a difficult summer – in and out of Navy Hospital 4 times with low blood pressure, high blood sugar count, and infections. This last stay lasted a week. Yesterday (Wed) Navy hospital got him full of antibiotics, insulin as needed, pain pills and sent him back to Consulate Health Care where he is in the rehab wing. This is his second trip to rehab. They will work with him to strengthen his arms, legs and torso so he can go home. He still has a lot of pain in his back. He has received 2 of 3 lumbar epidural injections in his back (a week apart) – the 3rd shot was delayed by his week stay at Navy Hospital. This is the first step in pain management to see if they can reduce his debilitating back pain. He got settled at Consulate Health Care yesterday (Wed 9/2). He is in the same room and bed he was in prior to his last trip to Navy Hospital:
CONSULATE HEALTH CARE
235 Airport Road
Pensacola, FL 32505
Room #604
Art’s direct phone # (850) 857-5350
Phone number to Consulate: (850) 857-5200
He enjoys hearing from family and friends by phone. He keeps a list of everyone who calls. If he does not answer, he is probably in rehab, so please try again later. When Art’s status or location changes, I’ll send an email to you.

Here is John showing off his first place trophy in Tigers and third place overall trophy for the pack at our Pinewood Derby. We used our car from last year, modifying it slightly to make it heavier so it could win this year. We worked on a new one for this year, but so many of our tools are still packed away, it was easier to just go with the one we had. At least we have a head start for next year.Tammy

John Wayne defined courage as "being scared as hell but saddling up anyway." Greg and I would agree with that definition. He bravely went through a horrible, heartbreaking battle. Greg wanted to live and he fought to the very last breath. As many of you know, not only did he get to see his beloved FSU team play again, he went out to the dove field not once more - but twice. He relished life and lived it to the fullest. Only death could stop him. How I wish we could have beat that cancer.
Today, October 30th marks a year now since he was forced to leave us. To say he is missed would be a gross understatement. But his presence is felt through uncanny coincidences and small miracles that even his son John recognizes as "Daddy must have done that!" A perfect first snowfall, "Danger Zone" (his favorite song of all time) played by the FSU marching band at his first game and the kitten John wanted so desperately who literally dropped into our lives. One that happens to snore and has a furry smile on his belly. These are just a few of the sweet occurrences that I do believe Greg sends our way.
Our lives are nothing like what he left us with. John and I live in different times altogether. We will return home to Pensacola next year and resume where we left off. It was good for me to take advantage of the job opportunity in Georgia even though I got laid off again. Being in a different city and a different house is helping me to catch my breath after everything that happened last year.
Greg's memorial park was put on hold for economical reasons by the city. I have been assured it will happen. The city is awaiting a final check from FEMA which will free up the funds to build the infrastructure. This park is a promise to Greg that I will keep.
Nana Grebe taught me the meaning of "unconditional love" and I learned "compassion and love" from Greg. This wonderful family Greg was blessed with exemplifies both. He truly felt this love and relied on it. I am honored to be a part of it.
My favorite thought on Greg came in a card of condolence. "I know Greg had a lot of friends but he always made me feel like I was his best friend" What a privilege to have known and be loved by him.

We have been loosing him to dementia for the past several years. In this picture, I see my old Dad, the one who knew who I was. Here is to you, Dad. Happy Birthday, I love you.....K"
